Breaktime Whodunnit (13 March 2023)

Welcome to The Rhythm Section! To compliment your morning tea or coffee (don’t forget that chocolate biscuit!), I have looked for some simple, chilled-out covers of songs you already know. Take the weight off your feet.

While in most cases (all, I hope) you’ll recognise the song, it’s quite unlikely you’ll know the artist. They’re largely unknown, they generally don’t have proper videos (for which I apologise) and more often than not, don’t have a Wikipedia page, even, so I know very little about them. So, I’ll keep my blurb to a minimum, you’ll be relieved, and simply present the track.

Lastly, it wouldn’t be as much fun if I didn’t present you with a little challenge. But I’m going to be boring with my question. Tell me who sang the original. Just write a comment, is cool. This is all for fun.

Oh, and don’t forget to check back for another excellent post from Nancy tomorrow.

This week, Kate Rusby and Friday I’m In Love. Enjoy!

So, how’s your memory today? Who was it sang the original version?

  1. I thought the song was a bit melancholy sounding, and I also thought I’d never heard it before from any artists. But when I read in the comments that Cure recorded it, I went to YouTube, watched it, and said “oh, this song.” I’m not a big fan of Cure, but my daughter liked them and I believe that’s how I know it.
