Welcome to The Rhythm Section! To compliment your morning tea or coffee (don’t forget that chocolate biscuit!), I have looked for some simple, chilled-out covers of songs you already know. Take the weight off your feet.
While in most cases (all, I hope) you’ll recognise the song, it’s quite unlikely you’ll know the artist. They’re largely unknown, they generally don’t have proper videos (for which I apologise) and more often than not, don’t have a Wikipedia page, even, so I know very little about them. So, I’ll keep my blurb to a minimum, you’ll be relieved, and simply present the track.
Lastly, it wouldn’t be as much fun if I didn’t present you with a little challenge. But I’m going to be boring with my question. Tell me who sang the original. Just write a comment, is cool. This is all for fun.
Oh, and don’t forget to check back for another excellent post from Nancy tomorrow.
The Boxer, by Erato. Could I make this any easier???
So, how’s your memory today? Who was it sang the original version?

I am currently crossing a bridge over troubled water… but I can say that not only the cover was excellent but the video was creatively spot on!
A most suitable song for a Monday, Pete.

Cheers from America this fine Monday morning!
This video was hilarious, really clever and fun to watch. The harmonies were nice and tight β very pleasant to listen to. I liked it a lot.
Still, nothing can come close to the sweet sounds of Paul and Art. I miss that iconic whip crack!
Excellent post/vid, Pete; great way to start the week! ππΌ

Ok, so the video wouldnβt play and I went on YouTube, where they said, a remake of β¦. So I canβt claim this one (I wouldnβt have know it anyway in all honesty)

I’d recommend a listen to Erato, if they allow any of their songs to be played there. They’re decent harmonies and some of their covers are excellent.

Always a favorite song. This is a nice cover, but I love the original better. Both are a delightful way to break the sounds of silence.

Hi, Dot. Yeah, there are few that come close to Paul Simon, but I’ve heard a few Erato songs and they’re well put-together. I like them. Most of the poeople I feature here I’ve never really heard of before but I remember these guys and will have to try to dig out some more.

Good evening B. I love this song. Love it so much that I downloaded the entire album Bridge Over Trouble Water last month so we could play it in the car when we drove to Denmark. Their voices are just magic together. It’s Simon & Garfunkel, of course. I do prefer their version though.

S&G were my first musical love, but I like these guys too.

Have a look for Erato sometime. Female duo, I think. I like their covers and I’m sure they did Dancing Queen, too.
